Welcome to the study and discussion guide for Vote Socialist 2024 (which can be purchased here).

These resources are meant to help guide you as you study the magazine issue and deep-dive into why as socialists engage in bourgeois elections when we know revolution is necessary for liberation. Our goal is to arm you with tools that offer a theoretical foundation to answer: How do we fight for reforms within a bourgeois democracy while building strong people’s movements and organizations? And how do we utilize the lessons from women revolutionaries around the world who related in different ways to bourgeois elections, the building of mass democratic organizations, and the building of socialist societies? If you are interested in joining or forming a study group, we would be happy to help! Let us know!

Objectives:

• Help participants gain a greater understanding of the role of socialist intervention in bourgeois elections.
• Allow participants to make personal connections to the material in the magazine.
• Draw inspiration and lessons from historical examples.

Materials:

• Chart paper. 1 for the guiding question and 3 for the anchoring questions
• Markers for chart paper
• Copies of the magazine (or print outs articles) for each participant
• Slides, projector, speakers, internet connection
• Suggested materials: notepaper and pens/pencils/highlighters for participants, name tag, post-its
